Former Miss of Idaho Jamie Hilton, 36, was on the edge of death. She was injured when she went on fishing with her husband Nick and his brother Greg. She slipped and fell directly on the rock, from height of four feet. Jamie first gave no signs of life, even after her husband raised her again she began to breathe. She was transferred to hospital by helicopter.
Her family had to make a difficult decision - cutting off a part of Jamie's skull .
Surgeons had to remove a quarter of the skull because her brain began to swell and it was life threatening. The part of the skull was placed in the abdominal cavity. They placed it there because there are most sterile conditions for the brain and also the bone remained nurtured.
After waking up from coma Jamie was shocked when she looked herself in the mirror. But even bigger shock followed when she find out that a part of the skull is in her stomach. She said that and it was difficult to believe and that it sounded like science fiction.
The piece was in her abdomen for 42 days, until the swollen brain did not get normal form and then, the severed part was returned to his place. She survived the operation.
After the surgery Jamie called the surgeon and thanked him for saving her life.
